Learn About Nature and Enjoy the Chesapeake Bay at the Anita C. Leight Estuary Center
The Anita C. Leight Estuary Center is the research and education facility of a component of the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Maryland. The Estuary Center’s impressive boating programs are a valuable way to support Chesapeake Bay initiatives and have fun out on the water this summer.
The Estuary Center offers school and public programs in canoeing, kayaking, and pontoon boats, as well as hiking and other programs in the parks surrounding the Estuary Center. Take advantage of walking trails, live animal exhibits and specialty programs like Family Fun Pontoon, Mother’s Day Paddle, and Birding by Boat. The Estuary Center’s calendar is full of spring and summer events, but also operates year-round with a variety of important endeavors. The adjacent Leight Park is open daily from dawn to dusk, and the Estuary Center building is open to the public until 5 p.m. daily. Check out the calendar of events online to participate in a program, or simply visit the Park and Center to enjoy its services.
